Um, yeah.
Adolf Hitler has a page on imdb.com
Why?
He’s not an actor, or a producer, or a director, like most of the people who have profiles on IMDb, which by the way stands for the Internet Movie Database.

Um, yeah.

Adolf Hitler has a page on imdb.com

Why?

He’s not an actor, or a producer, or a director, like most of the people who have profiles on IMDb, which by the way stands for the Internet Movie Database.

Now, if he had a profile page on the Internet Dictator Database, that would make perfect sense. But a showbiz site?

It’s not even just the fact that Hitler has movie and TV credits – in fact that does make some degree of sense – it’s the things that are on the sub-pages that really disturb me. For example:

His Trademarks include “Fierce, loud, energetic speeches” and “Dramatic hand gestures.”

Under Trivia, it says “Ruler of Nazi Germany (The Third Reich) 1933-1945, ” “Was a big fan of American football,” and “Suffered from insomnia, depression, and urolagnia.” (Look it up.)

There is a link to some photos on FanPix.net.

And his Message Board is surprisingly active, with threads like “He was mean” and “He wouldn’t have been 5 ft 9!”

Oh, and if you’re wondering how I stumbled upon this little-know fact, I was checking the IMDB news page (as I am often known to do), and stumbled upon this story about a tryst he had with actress Hedy Lamarr. It’s fine that this story be included on their news page, seeing as how it involves an actress, and of course Miss Lamarr should have a link in the story to her own profile page, but Adolf effing Hitler?

Well, at least Adolf isn’t alone: Joseph Stalin, Kim Jong-Il,and Osama bin Laden all have pages as well.

For a little break from my usual nerdy ramblings, here are some fun videos I have stumbled across and provided here for your viewing enjoyment. All are totally safe for work, and they proceed to get geekier as you go.

First is this clip from The Soup that is way more hilarious than it should be. (If you’ve heard people talking about “Spaghetti Cat,” this is it…)

Apparently, the picture was done intentionally, as a new kind of “bleep.” (Click here for the story.) Why they wouldn’t just go with one of these is quite beyond me…

Next there’s this trailer for The Dark Knight, only this version is a little more family-friendly.

Nothing against Ledger and Bale, but I’d pay to see that version, too.

And finally, there’s this amazing video of the Empire invading San Francisco. (Warning: Geek factor is pretty high on this one.)

This is so damn cool; I really love the Cloverfield, matter-of-factness feel to the whole thing. I only hope they do another one with the Rebels coming to visit New York City.

I trust you all read last Friday’s many Superman links. Want to kill another 45 minutes? Watch Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, below. It’s basically just like this blog, only a video, and a musical, and with a freeze-ray.

I know, I’m about a decade late to the Whedon party, and I still have a little Buffy and all of Angel and Firefly to watch before Dollhouse starts, but dammit, Joss Whedon is awesome. And for anyone who HASN’T heard about Dr. Horrible, the long story short is that during the writer’s strike, Joss was bored, and so he wrote this three-act story about a super-villain who likes to sing. The idea was to make professional looking content on the cheap for the web as an alternative to writing long-form shows for television or short video clips for online. And, you know, to make it hysterically funny.

Neil Patrick Harris a.k.a. NPH a.k.a. Doogie stars as Dr. Horrible, and while I could sum up the plot, I think doing so would be a crime worthy of Bad Horse’s Evil League of Evil. Seriously, carve out some time and watch it. It will be avaialble for free from Hulu for a few months, or you can buy it on iTunes, or you can wait for the DVD and soundtrack to be released. Not only is Joss a genius for creating this (and Buffy), but he’s also going to show that if you make quality content, you can give it away for free on the net and still make a profit by selling extras later on. Sorry it took me so long to jump on the Whedon bandwagon – I once was blind, but now I see!

This is the show I’ve been working on since April, and as such, all friends and family will be required to watch it when it airs.

And by voting, YOU get to control which songs you will see in the countdown, and in what order! Don’t complain about how such and such song didn’t make the list or got a bad ranking later on – save yourself the trouble and vote now. You have the power. You have the voice. Now go and do your patriotic American duty, and vote.
