This isn’t the first post on this blog about some amazing new Star Wars merchandising, nor will it be the last. But this. Is. Awesome.

Now you can have Yoda, Darth Vader, or C3PO (and in a few months, Han Solo too!) give you turn by turn directions on your TomTom GPS device. I can no longer imagine getting directions from anyone but a Star Wars character.

I was debating getting a GPS a while back, but the point became moot when I got the Droid (the cell phone, not an actual droid), which conveniently has an app for that. The pros of the Droid GPS? It doesn’t cost any extra, I carry it around with me at all times, and it is already preloaded with all of my contacts/addresses.

The con?

No Yoda option.

Clearly, I need me a TomTom.

Check out the videos from the recording sessions with Vader and Yoda:

That’s right kids – according to the New York Post, Beavis and Butt-head will be joining Family Guy and Futurama in the history books of canceled, animated TV shows being resurrected years later.

The new episodes will keep the two morons in high-school, as well as keep the same crude animation style the show was famous for, but the twosome will now heckle a whole new generation of music videos. The potential for comedy gold here is absolutely limitless with how Beavis and Butt-head will react to seeing music videos by Ke$ha and MIley Cyrus and the like.

But of course the real question on everyone’s minds has to be: will there be further adventures of The Great Cornholio?

Eli’s first Mets game was a success! He really seemed to enjoy it – for a good chunk of the game, he was staring off, seemingly staring intently on the action on the field. Or, more specifically, at the action on the giant screen. Eli, like his father, seems to have a fascination with watching TV, and he seemed to be mesmerized. But the important thing was he was happy! He took a little nap here and there, and while he was disappointed that the Mets lost, he enjoyed a fun night out. And not only that, but they even put his name up on the scoreboard – check it out:

Now granted, it was supposed to say that the Mets welcome “Eli, Nate, and Aaron to their 1st Mets Game,” and so the end was cut off, and they were lumped in with some other people, but the fact remains that Eli’s name was up in lights at his very first game! I mean, I’ve been going to Mets games for years, and they never did that for me!

I was curious how they were going to shoot off the fireworks, seeing as how there was no open space outside the stadium like at Shea. The solution? They shot off the fireworks *from* the stadium itself, and it was a pretty cool effect. Sure, we got some hot ash raining down on us, but Eli didn’t seem to be to terribly freaked out by the noise, and he was able to just stare up and see what was going on. Observe:

In the end, it was a very hot night, and we seriously messed with Eli’s routine, but I think a good time was had by all – all 29 adults and 2 babies of us. Thanks everyone for coming out and making it such a memorable night!

It sounds eerily familiar to “Stairway to Heaven.” Check it out, it really kicks in around 47 seconds in.

Well now there’s a new lawsuit that alleges that the song “Dazed and Confused” was also a rip-off, this time off of folk singer Jake Holmes’s song also named “Dazed and Confused.” TMZ has some audio links to compare the songs. In my opinion this is less damning than the Stairway/Taurus similarities, and why Holmes waited 41 years to sue is quite beyond me, especially since he only stands to get 3 years of royalties of the judge finds in his favor.

Still, I can’t help feeling unsettled by this news, because I really do love Led Zeppelin. Stairway to Heaven may have “borrowed” its opening riff, but the song is so much more than that. Dazed and Confused is also fairly different from the song it allegedly stole from. Not to mention all of the other gems on the band’s collected works – they really made some amazing music while they were together. (Not to mention since – if you haven’t listened to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’s album ‘Raising Sand,’ you’re really missing out, although that may not be the best example to use here since it is an album chock full of cover songs.) Of course their talent doesn’t serve as an excuse for stealing the work of others, but I guess in my mind, it’s better for a band to improve upon another artist’s work, as opposed to the rampant sampling that goes on nowadays, when classic songs are completely butchered to make a vastly inferior pop tune.

I’ve said my piece, I’m coming down from my soap box now. (For the moment…)

OMG! Today, Nintendo just held an amazing E3 conference. Some of the highlights:

Donkey Kong Country Returns – A new 2D Wii game in the style of the SNES classic series. It’s like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, except with Donkey Kong! Sweet!. And since its coming out this fall, we may have just found the 2010 signature Nick’s Marathon game! Check out this footage (with an intro from reggie.)

Donkey Kong Country Returns at IGN.com

The new Goldeneye is pretty cool as well, although I did really suck at the N64 version! Wii Party and Mario Sports Mix look fun, but I doubt I’d run out to buy them, personally.

The 3DS stuff looked amazing, even as they stressed that it looks way more impressive in person. I was never a Kid Icarus fan, but the new game for the 3DS did look pretty damn cool, and what I’ve read says that when you see the thing in person you’re really blown away by the 3D. Also in the works are a 3D Mario Kart, Contra, and Paper Mario game (ironic, since that character is decidedly 2D!)

And then of course there is the announcement of the newest Zelda game on Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It will use the Wii MotionPlus attachment for true 1:1 sword-fighting, which is sure to be super fun AND make you look like a weirdo as you play. Score!

More The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword News & Previews

Great job, Nintendo – not that I ever doubted you, but truly impressive stuff!

Hey James – BNL is a band from the past 20 years, and I like them!

Two quick videos for your Monday to show off the high and low points from last week’s non-Lost TV. First, the best, from 30 Rock. Tracy Jordan (Morgan) recalls the horrible memories from his childhood in the Projects that he had previously repressed.

The line about the puppy is especially hysterical.

And now for the worst. See if you can spot exactly what is so wrong with this clip from Glee.

Awful, right?

The show is called “Undateable: Top 100 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won’t Be Dating Or Having Sex.” The subtitle pretty much explains it all. The above clip is from #56 on the countdown, Bad Dancing. Does that bad dancer look familiar? He should!

And that isn’t the only time a Noah is going to be onscreen over the course of these five hours of television. So set your DVR’s, because alannoah.com is having an official contest! The person who can spot the most (ideally all) of the instances when either myself or another Noah appears on the show, you will win a prize! A real prize! An unopened, never before watched comedy classic film on DVD! I don’t want to spoil what movie it is, but I will say it involves Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd “trading places” with one another.

So be sure to tune in every night this week, Monday through Friday, from 10pm – 11pm on VH1. That’s five hours total. You already know you’ll see me in the Bad Dancing segment, which is number 56 and will air Wednesday night. But there will be more! Post your contest submissions as comments here, and good luck to everyone!

Oh, and if you haven’t already made an Empire Strikes Back movie starring you, go do it now. There are 2 versions (two!) of the Noah family playing the various roles on my Facebook page – check them out. I may be biased, but this new cast make Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams look like terrible choices.
