Did you miss me?

Well, the Noah’s have returned from our vacation in the wilderness, and I’m glad to say that we all had a wonderful and relaxing time.  Eli absolutely loved playing in the water, we got to spend a lot of quality time with the family, and we even were able to venture out and explore a bit.  And by explore, I mean eat ice cream.  Homemade ice cream.  From a variety of different places.  Places where the “Small” is the size of your head.  (No joke, we went to one ice cream stand that needed to have an off-the-menu “Half-Kiddie” size because people had complained that even the “Kiddie” portions were too much.)  We grilled, we went to a lot of fun restaurants, we went to playgrounds and a pretty amazing baby pool, and we took Eli to see the many sights of Boston.  Yes, we were slammed with the heat wave, and I have come to understand just how fond I am of air conditioning.  It truly is one of the greatest and most significant technological achievements in the history of mankind.  (Temperatures north of the 150 degree mark will get you thinking about these things.)

Of course, as nice as it was to be away, it’s still good to be back home.  Where Sherlock can run around in the yard without fear the dreaded screeching fisher cat. Where I am not constantly under attack from flies that are quite certain they can and should live out the remainder of their days in my head (they prefer flying in my ears, but if those are unavailable because I have attractively worn two baseball hats – each covering one side of my head, or because I have a shirt over my head Cornholio style, they are willing to try flying into my nose and mouth), and where we have beautiful, glorious, and amazing central air.

The next vacation destination for the man whining about bugs and excessive heat?  Atlanta, Georgia!
