It’s not surprising that Jason Segel will be starring in the new Muppet movie that he wrote with his buddy and Forgetting Sarah Marshall director, Nicholas Stoller. But I know that new development will make the new movie go from a “We should go see it” to a “We HAVE to go see that!” in the Noah household.
I am totally excited that Segel is making this movie, allegedly tentatively titled “The Greatest Muppet Movie Of All Time,” is supposed to be a throwback to the original Muppet show. The plot allegedly centers on an evil tycoon who wants to drill for oil under the studio that the Muppets did their old TV show in. So a man (Segel), his girlfriend, and their Muppet bear friend set out to reunite the old gang of Muppets and stop him. It’s supposed to be hip, funny, and geared to appeal to old fans and bring in new fans of the characters. The producers are attempting to get a lot of celebrities to make cameos, and if all of that isn’t enough to get you stoked, the movie will be directed by James Bobin, co-creator of Flight of the Conchords!
In other words…
Yaaaaaaaaaaay! (Said by a frog with his head thrown back and his arms flailing around)
