As a huge fan of the ancient art of karaoke, I find this news extremely disturbing.  (See above photo of me belting out ‘Careless Whisper’ for proof.)

Apparently, in the Philippines, singing karaoke can get you killed. And while singing any song, especially out of tune, is dangerous, there seems to be a specific stigma with Sinatra’s classic ‘My Way.’

Read the article if you have a minute – it’s actually pretty scary stuff, and the crimes have more to do with the violent culture of the Philippines than one particular song being sung incorrectly.

Still, it makes me extremely grateful to know that I live in a society where I can belt out all the Journey and Wham! songs I want, as off key as I like, without fear of you know, being actually murdered.
