Why do we have to root for one team over another? Is it ingrained in our consciousness because we live in a two party system, that no matter what you always have to back one horse or another? In this particular case, there is no lesser of two evils. It is perfectly acceptable to either watch the games without cheering for either time, or to wash your hands of the entire affair altogether.
