A Phillies-Yankees World Series is just about the worst thing that could happen to a Mets fan. It’s like G-d himself hates the Mets and is out to punish not only them, but their fans. Or it’s like that guy from the Saw movies has come up with a new horrific kind of torture just for Mets fans: this exact World Series match-up.
Or, as Jon Stewart himself says…
Well said, Jon. Well said.

I don’t see why one has to choose at all. Why do we have to root for one team over another? Is it ingrained in our consciousness because we live in a two party system, that no matter what you always have to back one horse or another?
In this particular case, there is no lesser of two evils. It is perfectly acceptable to either watch the games without cheering for either time, or to wash your hands of the entire affair altogether.
Don’t worry, I’m not that into baseball players. Jon Stewart on the other hand…
There is a lesser of evils… It’s the Phillies.
2-party system has nothing to do with it. Even in a 9 horse race, you pick one to win.
I do not accept that the Phillies are less evil. But the hordes of Yankee “fans” swarming Penn Station this morning were pretty damn annoying.
