This morning, at approximately 7:30am Eastern Standard Time, mankind has finally done what we have longed to do for ages.

We bombed the moon.

No, the Man in the Moon is not a known supporter of terrorist networks. The mission was designed to find water on the moon, and was actually far more scientific than the “moon bombing” headlines would have you believe. I for one wish there was a television show where you could learn all about the science of stuff like this in a fun and informative way. But I digress.

Here’s a cool NASA animation (those guys make the BEST animations) of the LCROSS spacecraft impacting the lunar surface:

And here’s the live video of it actually happening. It may not be the most fascinating thing in the world to watch, but I just love how happy the NASA guys are at the end.

Next up: Blowing up Pluto. If it can’t be a planet, it can’t be anything.
