Weird Al has released another song from his upcoming album, and this time you can either buy the mp3 or watch the video online. Behold “Craigslist”:
It’s not a direct parody, but it’s in the style of The Doors (with Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek playing on the track) and it obviously spoofs the infamous site craigslist. His insight into how people talk on the site is spot on – the ridiculous barter offer, the stupid missed connections, the open letters people write, and the free crap that no one wants with all of the caveats attached just for good measure. Pure brilliance – once again Weird Al has mixed musical parody with hilarious insight into the world we live in.
Great job again, Mr. Yankovic.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackTo me the funniest thing was the Native American images slipped in….the “this was self-righteously trendy in 1969″ hit the nail on the head for Jim Morrison’s “I want to be tragically hip” aura.
Oh and the second funniest thing about the Craig’s List spoof article on alannoah.com? The fact that the article just below it was Al trying to unload his bar.
The song is extra funny to me because I have been trying to sell my bar on craigslist, but have only gotten scams and bizarre replies so far, which is why I posted it here (and on facebook.)
So Clint – want to buy a bar?
Nah. Thanks though. I don’t have the room in my place, especially when I have rabbis and priests over. We’d just walk into it.
Clint – I LOVED your “rabbi and priest” comment!!
Thanks, Mrs. A!
