OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! Yesterday at the Nintendo E3 press conference, where big games are usually announced, the greatest video game company in the universe didn’t just announce one new Super Mario game – but TWO!

One is New Super Mario Bros. for Wii – if you played the DS game, which was awesome, you know the basic concept – it’s a 2D Mario side-scroller, in the same vein as Super Mario World, only, ya know – it’s NEW! But the Wii version also makes it into a multiplayer game, where four players compete against each other. It looks so fun – I think it’s a safe bet that this will be a fixture of all future game nights at the Noah household.

Then there’s Super Mario Galaxy 2, a sequel to one of the all time greatest video games of all time. Seriously, I was sort of in love with Super Mario Galaxy, and now there’s going to be a sequel? On the same platform? It’s about time – there hasn’t been a Super Mario sequel on a single console since the SNES days. And yeah, James, I know I sort of have some issues with some number twos in the Super Mario series, but that’s mainly just SMB2 – Super Mario World 2 was different but a lot of fun, and Super Mario Land 2 rocked. Anyway, I’m nothing but optimistic after seeing this trailer:

There were other interesting things coming out of E3: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus, but Mario will always be my number one video game draw.
