Brief post this week, but a few thoughts/observations on this week’s episode, after an obligatory SPOILER ALERT:
The reveal that Charles Widmore was once an Other was really cool, and it works perfectly into the great Lost mantra of revealing information that then opens up a ton of new questions. Was he born there? Did he and Ben know each other on the Island? What happened between them? If Widmore was on the Island, was it moved after he left so he couldn’t find his way back? And despite the “you can’t change anything rule,” shouldn’t Locke have TRIED to kill the young Widmore? I mean, after all the chaos he caused in the future/past?
And aw man, Penny is so screwed. Des has to follow grown-up Widmore’s directions to LA to find Faraday’s mom, who, it seems like a safe bet, is the old lady working with Ben in the church, who also spelled out the rules of time-travel to Desmond before. If that is the case, then he’s bring Penny right to the man who swore to kill her. Eep. She just died on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and even that Tell Me You Love Me show got canceled after one season. Poor lady.
And I loved, LOVED, the fact that Desmond named his son Charlie after his Island buddy who died so others could live. (And love.)
And are there any members of Oceanic Flight 815 left alive on the Island that we care about besides Sawyer, Rose, and Bernard? Or is that it? I can’t think of anyone else, but please correct me if I’m wrong…
