If you haven’t heard about “Zach and Miri Make a Porno,” here’s everything you need to know:
- It’s a new movie written and directed by Kevin Smith
- It stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks - the hot, funny chick from Scrubs, Wet Hot American Summer, The 40-Year Old Virgin, and tons of other stuff.
- It’s about two friends who make a porno.
That alone is enough to get me to shell out $11, but then there’s this little nugget of news by way of ew.com: Apparently, the MPAA, which had initially rated the movie NC-17 (for better or worse, Smith got it back down to an R), has banned the following poster for being too obscene. Check it out.
I mean, come on, really? THIS is THAT obscene that it has to be kept out of multiplexes everywhere? I feel like most people will totally miss the joke, as the punchline is only at the very bottom of the sheet. Besides, any kids who see it won’t understand, they’ll ask their parents who can make up some lame lie, and their childhoods can continue uncorrupted.
Oh well. This movie still looks hysterical, and a little controversy can only help their box office numbers.
(Speaking of box office numbers, if you’re curious about how the summer blockbusters did, Eonline.com has a great round-up of the final tallies, that is full of fun and interesting factoids.)
